Portland Youth Media
Portland Youth Media partners with local schools, after-school programs, and community-based organizations to offer our Introduction to Multimedia workshop and 21st Century Now-Career Readiness Program. We put professional equipment in the hands of the students, including HD video cameras, MacPro laptops and lighting in a live television studio located at PCM. In the classroom and at our facility, they will learn the basics of digital media with goals to air programming on POP29.
Hands-on training includes:
Pre-production such as script writing, copy editing, storyboarding
In-studio and field camera angles, framing and composition
Recording and laying audio for video programs
Digital storytelling and editing, utilizing the latest in Final Cut Pro
Look out for PYM’s Youth Career Readiness through Media program, which is our innovative approach at preparing our youth for the new challenges of today's economy. Once a student completes the introductory program, their PYM instructors will identify job opportunities in multimedia fields beginning Spring 2010.
