Portland Youth Media offers workshops in Video Production, Digital Storytelling, Animation and Media Literacy to young people ages 8-18. We also offer custom programming to schools, groups and non-profit organizations.
In addition to our summer camps, we also offer youth classes every quarter. Current offerings include:
- Field Production, a hands-on class where youth explore the city and build their video-making skills at the same time;
- Adventures in Editing, a fun class where youth learn Final Cut Pro through crafting a green screen adventure;
- Intro to Animation, an exploration of stop-motion, cut-out, and claymation animation techniques.
PCM also hosts a year-round club for youth interested in media, PCM Youth Media Productions. This free class is held every Thursday from 4 to 6, and allows youth to practice screenwriting, video production, animation, and more. Content created in PCM Youth Media Productions is broadcast on PCM's cable TV channels and submitted to youth film festivals.

NOTE: PCM will be hosting the The 90-Second Newbery Film Festival on Feb. 21, 2016. This youth film festival is a yearly video contest in which kid filmmakers create movies that tell the entire stories of Newbery-winning books in about 90 seconds--often with a fun twist! If you want to make your own Newberry submission for the festival, get started by taking one of our workshops! Learn more about the festival here: http://jameskennedy.com/90-second-newbery/.
