Portland Community Media Launches New POP 29 Cable Tv Series—In the Mix

Tune in this month for real situations with fresh perspectives from Gen X and Y’s points-of-view

PORTLAND, ORE. – Get ready, Portlanders, for a hot, new, locally produced television show.  In the Mix—premieres at 6:30 p.m. on May 19 on Comcast Cable channel 29, Pulse of Portland.  POP29 is operated by Portland Community Media.  

In the Mix promises exhilarating and lively discussions with a different kind of talk.  PCM CEO and POP29 Executive Producer Sylvia McDaniel explained that the show’s format targets the young, hip, passionate and smart TV audience. “The show’s fashion-conscious hosts are very bold with their opinions,” McDaniel said.

Five Portland hair stylists will host In the Mix weekly.  Hosts Janae, Sarah, Marc, Miss Ti and Marsha will present their unique tastes, styles and perspectives as a representation of young adults in Generations X and Y: ages 21-37. An individual or topic expert will be interviewed and participate in discussions on each episode.  

PCM’s Multimedia Services Group produces In the Mix on location at the Beau Monde College of Hair Design located in downtown Portland on SW 12th Avenue.  In the Mix’s hosts are graduates or current students at the school.  Beau Monde provides a hair salon atmosphere, as well as a multicultural range of student stylists and instructors.  During show tapings, hosts hold a round table amid the hustle and bustle of customer activity, with students performing salon services in the background.  

In the Mix will broadcast weekly on POP29 and will be available on PCM Video on Demand located under local programs.  On Demand is exclusive to Comcast Cable.  Additional broadcast dates for the first episode of In the Mix are: 11:30 p.m. on May 20; 8 p.m. on May 22; and 11 a.m. on May 24. By July 1, PCM will stream the already 24-hour POP29 channel to a larger audience on PCM’s web site at www.pcmtv.org.
